A new search-and-find children’s book, created and published by two boyhood friends and licensed by the National Football League, will do more than entertain kids. Publisher David Bazzoni says ten percent of net profits will be directed to children's charities. "Joe Journeyman is a product for kids, benefiting kids," said Bazzoni, in a story that aired this weekend on Inside Indiana Business Television. He said the project is a labor of love that is more than a book.
The contributions will benefit Joe's Kids, a Warsaw-based non-profit that provides speech, occupational and physical therapy for special needs kids and local children's hospitals.
Bazzoni, president of Warsaw-based IDNA Brands, and artist Jed Bruce were childhood friends who went their own, very different ways after middle school. A chance meeting years later rekindled their friendship and mutual admiration and sparked the idea for the book.
Bazzoni and Bruce eventually landed a meeting and pitched the concept to NFL executives in New York City. The result was a coveted NFL licensing deal. "I truly feel that Joe Journeyman is capable of doing for kids what fantasy football has done for adults," said Bazzoni. "This can make kids fans of the entire league at a much younger age."
