WorkOne is hosting a job fair Saturday that will offer more than 100 new positions in Fort Wayne. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Allen County WorkOne career center. GM and its suppliers are looking for new employees in everything from finance to manufacturing. The job increase is following plans for gradual development in the area for the past few years.
In 2016, the company invested $127 million in its casting plant in Bedford and planned to pump an additional $1 billion into the Fort Wayne area over the next few years to double the size of its operation.
The expansion of GM’s operations has led to increased business for its partners in the Fort Wayne area. In August of 2017, Android and sister company Avancez pledged to invest nearly $15 million into expansion in Allen County. Both create components including consoles, headliners and radiator modules, and increased their production because of GM contracts.
