The Jehovah's Witness summer convention will return to Evansville for the 11th consecutive year. The conference will span three weekends, starting July 18 at the Ford Center. July 15, 2014

News Release

Evansville, Ind. — For the 11th consecutive year, the Jehovah’s Witness has selected Evansville as a site for their summer convention. An added bonus this year is that the conference will be held on three weekends – July 18-20, July 25-27 and August 1-3 – at the Ford Center in downtown Evansville. The Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau is spreading the word to local businesses and residents encouraging everyone to extend our special version of southern Hoosier Hospitality to them throughout their visit.

This is the largest religious group hosted by Evansville each year. Organizers anticipate 6,300 worshipers from Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee to attend each weekend. The city will be busy with people and traffic as they will stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants and shop in our stores. The Evansville CVB calculates this group contributes $3.6 million annually for their standard two-week conference. The additional weekend could increase that amount by $1.9 million in direct expenditures to Evansville and Vanderburgh County.

Organizers rave about Evansville and the warm and friendly nature they experience from our residents. They are impressed with the Ford Center facility as well as the city’s commitment to ensuring the amenities are satisfactory to their attendees. At last year’s conference, public relations coordinators stated, “Our worshippers loved the downtown environment. “

The convention is free and open to the public each weekend. The theme for this year’s sessions is “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom!” Services begin at 9:20AM daily with a break at 12:15PM for lunch. Afternoon sessions begin at 1:35PM until 4:55PM on Friday and Saturday. Sunday sessions end at 4:00PM.
