Jaynes Named Voice of INDYCAR Radio

Mark Jaynes has been named chief announcer for the Advance Auto Parts INDYCAR Radio Network.
Jaynes replaces Paul Page, who led the race broadcasts for the last two years. He has served as turn and pit lane reporter for the network since 1996 as well as being the lead announcer for the Indy Lights Series broadcasts.
"Mark’s been doing this for 20 years and he brings a ton of enthusiasm to each broadcast," said Wally Leavitt, general manager for the radio network. "He’s the senior member on the network, he knows the product inside and out and has a great love for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, for INDYCAR, for Indy Lights. He is the right person for the job."
The Monrovia native will be the sixth "Voice of the 500" as the radio network enters its 65th season. He will broadcast all 16 races on the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series schedule, including the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
"The most important thing to me is to make sure that the event is front and center, and not me," Jaynes said. "I think all of the chief announcers have done a tremendous job of that, and that’s what I want to continue. I hope to glean the passion and enthusiasm that they all felt for the race itself and the facility and the fans."
