A handful of Indiana restaurant and brewing professionals are in the running for major national recognition. Semi-finalists for the New York-based James Beard Foundation's annual restaurant and chef awards include brewers from Munster and chefs from Indianapolis and Bloomington. The Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional category includes:

Mike Floyd, Nick Floyd, and Simon Floyd of Three Floyds Brewing Co. in Munster.

Best Chef in the Great Lakes Region semi-finalists include:

Greg Hardesty of Recess in Indianapolis

Daniel Orr of FARMbloomington in Bloomington

David Tallent of Restaurant Tallent in Bloomington
