LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – Mark Graver, Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs since 2003, has been named Interim Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Southeast. Ivy Tech Southeast includes the Lawrenceburg, Madison and Batesville campuses and serves Dearborn, Jefferson, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland Counties in Indiana as well as the Cincinnati, Ohio area and northern Kentucky.
Graver was named Interim Chancellor to replace James Helms, who retired as Chancellor of Ivy Tech Southeast January 15, 2014. Helms will continue to be active with the college, holding the title Chancellor Emeritus, and will become a member of the Ivy Tech Community College State Foundation Board. Helms will also be involved in Special Initiatives for the President's office.
As Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Graver has overseen classroom instruction, enrollment management, academic student advising, recruiting of faculty, supervision to all faculty and instructional staff, and monitoring of academic department budgets at both the Lawrenceburg and Batesville campuses. Graver also serves on regional scheduling, services to students, safety, and technology committees.
Graver joined Ivy Tech in 1992 as a computer information systems faculty member at the Madison Campus. He transferred to the Batesville Campus in 2000, assuming the responsibilities of Program Chair for the Business and Computer Information Systems programs. As Program Chair he hired Business, Accounting and Computer adjunct faculty, maintained the local area network and campus computer labs, and was involved in student college-ready skills testing. In 2003 he was recipient of the Southeast Region's President's Award for Excellence in Instruction.
A 15-year member of the American Technical Education Association, in 1998 he was recognized as the Outstanding Technical Teacher of the organization’s Great Lakes Region.
Graver serves on Ivy Tech's statewide Regional Academic Officers' Committee, Safety and Security Committee, Green Team Committee, and on a strategy subcommittee of the College's Accelerating Greatness 2013 strategic plan. He represents Ivy Tech Southeast as a member of the Region 9 Adult Education Consortium and is a member of the Dearborn County EcO15 Advisory Task Force. Past assignments include appointment to an Engagement and Service Committee in preparation for a 2009 Higher Learning Commission accreditation visit to the Southeast Region.
Currently Graver is a board member of the Dearborn County Foundation, having served as a chairperson and as vice-president and president. He is a member of the Dearborn County Community Mental Health Center Board, of the Lawrenceburg Main Street Program, having served as vice president and as president, and is a member of the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club.
Graver, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Indiana University and a Master's in Administration from Central Michigan University, instructed as an adjunct faculty member for Northwood University, teaching Statistical Techniques in Business and Management Information Systems classes. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member for Indiana University/Purdue University, instructing Computer Fundamentals and Introductory Software Applications.
Graver is an eight-year veteran of the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Captain while serving as a Navigator, Radar Navigator, and Offensive Systems Officer on B-52 and B-1B Bombers. He logged over 1,500 hours of flight time with active duty assignments in California, Texas, North Dakota, and the South Pacific Island of Guam. He is a member of Northcutt-Laaker Post 292 of the American Legion in Dillsboro.
