Ivy Tech Sells Gary Location to Charter School

Ivy Tech Community College has announced it will sell its former campus in Gary to 21st Century Charter School. 21st Century runs elementary and secondary schools and will purchase the two buildings and land at the location.
The college recently moved Gary operations to the Arts & Sciences Building that it shares with Indiana University Northwest.
Ivy Tech also offers classes at the Gary Area Career Center, which is directly across the street from its former Gary location. In total, Ivy Tech-Lake County’s 44 programs serve 4700 students on campus and another 4,000 dual credit students in nearly 400 courses in high schools.
“This will contribute to the renaissance of the city of Gary and we are proud to be a part of that,” Louie Gonzalez, chancellor of Ivy Tech-Lake County, said. "Without question, this will contribute to the development of the 35th Avenue corridor. And, as an educational partner, we will continue to improve the quality of life for thousands of young people in the years to come."
