Ivy Tech Community College is ranked first in the nation among two-year colleges for the number of associate degrees granted last school year, according to a Community College Week report. Ivy Tech granted 9,453 associate degrees during the 2013-2014 school year.
The number two school on the list is Northern Virginia Community College, which granted 5,578 associate degrees.
“These are certainly impressive numbers and reflect the college’s hard work in ensuring students achieve their educational goals. Ivy Tech works with the state’s most complex student body, which includes a majority of students attending part-time and having responsibilities such as work and family obligations that sometimes prevent them from completing their degree. We are encouraged by these numbers and will continue to strive to improve them each year,” Ivy Tech President Thomas Snyder said.
Ivy Tech also ranks high in degrees granted in high demand fields like health, engineering and education.
