Ivy Tech Picks Athletic Director For Campus President

RICHMOND, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College has appointed Chad Bolser as the Richmond and Connersville campus president, effective August 18, 2014. Bolser most recently served as the athletic director for Richmond Community Schools.
Bolser will report to the regional chancellor, Andy Bowne. The focus of the local campus president will be outreach to the local communities in Fayette, Franklin, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties. In addition, campus presidents will manage the day-to-day operations while fostering a campus climate that is consistent with the College's core values. The campus president consults with regional administrators to achieve policy objectives and goals for building new and varied community outreach and partnerships, as well as expanding the availability of the College’s instructional and student support services to the communities.
“I am incredibly honored, and excited, to be selected as campus president,” says Bolser. “This community, including the surrounding counties, has had a positive impact on my life, both from a personal and professional standpoint. Richmond Community Schools has been a tremendous place to work for the past sixteen years. I am truly thankful for the opportunities and experience that I have gained through their leadership. The position at Ivy Tech will not only challenge me, but also provide the opportunity to participate in changing the lives of those in the regional communities.”
Bolser has served as a social studies teacher for Richmond Community Schools and head boys basketball coach for Richmond High School. Bolser’s career also included: assistant men's basketball coach, head men's golf coach and instructor for education and physical education at Millikin University, Decatur, Ill.; head basketball coach and history teacher at St. Teresa High School, Decatur, Ill.; and assistant basketball coach and admissions and financial aid counselor at Lindenwood University, St. Charles, Mo.
“We are very pleased that Chad has decided to join our leadership team,” says Andy Bowne, regional chancellor for East Central and Richmond regions. “Chad's leadership experience, community relationships and passion for the Ivy Tech mission is why we chose him as the final candidate for the campus president position. I am confident he will effectively lead the region, all while focusing on student success and community involvement.”
Bolser earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in History from Lindenwood University and his Master’s of Education from Earlham College. He is married to Leslie (Brown) Bolser and has two daughters. The family resides in Richmond.
The Richmond region aligned with the East Central region in early 2014. Currently one campus president position has been named, Dr. James Willey, Anderson campus president. Dr. John (Rob) Jeffs was appointed interim Marion campus president, with the search process underway, following the retirement of Dr. John Lightle in May 2014. A formal search process to hire the campus president for Muncie/Henry County will initiate in the near future.
