Ivy Tech Names Workforce Alignment VP

Lowery currently serves as acting vice president for Ivy Tech Corporate College and chancellor of the college’s Columbus and Southeast regions.
Ivy Tech says an interim successor for Lowery will named in the coming weeks. In his new role, Lowery will be responsible for Ivy Tech’s work force alignment and development initiatives.
"The role of Ivy Tech in workforce alignment is critical and much work remains to be done," said Lowery. "I chose to work for Ivy Tech Community College because of their mission, and this drives me each day. We have the opportunity to make a robust workforce alignment strategy that is demand driven, voice-of-the-customer oriented, and measured in terms of outcomes and success."
Ivy Tech says as part of his new position, Lowery will develop collaborative partnerships with state and federal economic development organizations, private sector businesses and other groups who are seeking economic development and training solutions throughout the state.
"Over half of our students are pursuing a degree or certificate that takes them directly into the workforce," said Ivy Tech President Sue Ellspermann. "Chris is able to see the big picture and what is needed to elevate the state of Indiana and align our graduates to higher job placement rates, particularly in areas where local employers are in need of an educated workforce. His experience in the regions, Corporate College, business, K12 education, and government will be the perfect addition to our focus for student success and workforce alignment."
Lowery is a member of the State Workforce Innovation Council and the Governor’s Works Council for Southeastern Indiana, among other boards and commissions.
