Ivy Tech Community College has announced Daniela Vidal will become the next chancellor of the school’s Evansville campus. Vidal, who currently serves as vice president of operations at Vidal Plastics in Evansville, succeeds Jonathan Weinzapfel, who stepped down from the role in November.

Vidal previously held several roles at the University of Southern Indiana for more than 10 years before joining Vidal Plastics. Her most recent role was director of opportunity development. She also served as coordinator of the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Supervision degree programs, as well as an engineering instructor.

“(Daniela’s) higher education, economic development, innovation and entrepreneurship experience will serve her well as we continue to reshape the College and programming to meet the changing needs of southwest Indiana communities, employers, and, most importantly, our students,” Ivy Tech President Sue Ellspermann said in a news release. “Ivy Tech is critical to the success of the region’s Talent 2025 strategy. I am confident that Daniela will help us grow and better serve our richly diverse community ensuring all of our citizens are pursuing post-secondary credentials which lead to their prosperity, elevate our communities, and strengthen southwest Indiana’s economy.”

Vidal will begin her new role March 16.
