Ivy Tech Corporate College is launching a College-at-Work program with GEICO. It involves Ivy Tech Business Administration coursework that will allow central Indiana GEICO employees to qualify for management positions. March 20, 2015

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Corporate College is partnering with GEICO to create a College-at-Work program to help develop the company's Indianapolis employees into management positions.

The partnership allows GEICO employees the opportunity to be promoted internally after they complete coursework through Ivy Tech's Business Administration program. Employees are eligible to apply for management positions after they successfully complete a series of business courses and meet internal company requirements. GEICO currently has around 800 employees at its Indianapolis facility and plans to hire over 400 additional employees by the end of 2015.

“GEICO has a proud history of encouraging professional development among its employees and promoting from within,” said GEICO's Indianapolis Assistant Vice President Eric Stafford. “This first semester has exceeded our expectations and I am confident this partnership with Ivy Tech will help us continue that tradition and inspire more employees to further their education and expand their career opportunities.”

Ivy Tech Corporate College Account Executive Ariane Stallard and Program Manager Bob Thalls have taken the lead on the project and commented that GEICO has been a great partner for the College.

“From the beginning, GEICO has been interested in partnering with Ivy Tech; they sought us out,” said Stallard. “They have been excited about the entire process and continue to be as we deliver education to their employees.”

“GEICO has been a tremendously dedicated partner in the College-at-Work program,” said Thalls. “By giving their employees the ability to conveniently attend college level classes on site, GEICO has strategically given their employees the ability to pursue their educational goals when many lacked the necessary resources to do so. I am incredibly humbled and thankful to be a part of such a worthwhile project.”

The program is delivered in a cohort format, with the first semester running February 11 to May 8. Ivy Tech built a supplementary learning pathway that allows GEICO employees to earn a Technical Certificate (TC) in Business Administration by taking four additional courses in English and business.

The College-at-Work program within Ivy Tech Corporate College was developed in an effort to deliver institutional resources and classroom instruction to client partners on-site at their respective facilities. In addition to the program with GEICO, Ivy Tech has developed and administered a unique College-at-Work experience for a number of local organizations including Pearson Education, IU Health, and Gander Mountain.
