Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus is partnering with another local employer to give employees the chance to complete their college degrees. Massachusetts-based medical device company Boston Scientific, which has a facility in Spencer, is collaborating with the school as part of the Achieve Your Degree program.
Ivy Tech says Boston Scientific employees will have the option to earn an associates degree in 10 pre-selected degree programs in order to advance their careers at the company. Those program options include accounting, advanced automation/robotics technology, biotechnology, engineering technology, and manufacturing production and operations, among others.
Tuition for the program will be deferred so there will be no upfront costs to employees.
"We strive to provide a range of comprehensive benefits that can be tailored to meet our employees’ diverse needs at different stages of life, and this collaboration with Ivy Tech strengthens the educational offerings for our employees," said Kenneth McKee, human resources director at Boston Scientific. "The Achieve Your Degree program helps us to support our employees’ continued education and professional development in ways that might otherwise be inaccessible."
Ivy Tech Bloomington has similar partnerships with other area employers, including Cook Group, German American Bank, Old National Bank and Hearthstone Health Campus. Last week, Ivy Tech’s Fort Wayne campus announced an Achieve Your Degree partnership with Columbia City-based 80/20 Inc.
