The Indiana University Research and Technology Corp. has selected a big name in the Indiana coworking space community to join its ranks. The organization has named Jason Whitney, former vice president of Launch Fishers and general manager of Launch Indiana, manager of strategic partnerships.

In his new role, Whitney will be responsible for securing strategic opportunities and partnering with private and public organizations to provide additional funding and resources for IU faculty, alumni, staff and students to advance their startups. Tony Armstrong, chief executive officer of the IURTC says Whitney’s experience in the entrepreneurial community will be a "tremendous benefit" to IU-based startups.

"Jason has an established history working with startups and funders around the country," Armstrong said in a news release. "His experience will be particularly helpful in leveraging the assets that reside around the state to help our innovators move their technologies forward and create jobs."

Prior to joining Launch Fishers in 2015, Whitney spent more than four years as executive director of the Richmond Innovation Center. Whitney calls his new position an "ideal situation."
