Two upcoming IUPUI lectures will focus on the impact of human-centered design on the Internet of Things and the quick evolution of smart cities. Former Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith and Amazon’s Will Seidelman will be featured.
The "Industry Lecture Series: Driving Innovation in IoT Ecosystems through Human-Centered Design" is hosted by the School of Informatics and Computing and is free and open to the public. Seidelman will speak about how Amazon’s "working backward" exercise impacts his Human Centered Design Division, and will discuss how the advances in the internet of things are changing the entire process of product design. Seidelman’s lecture is scheduled for November 16, from 5-6pm in Room 252 of the Informatics and Communications Technology Complex.
Goldsmith will speak on the rapid development of smart cities and how technology is used to connect communities and government. The former Indy mayor is now the Daniel Paul Professor of the Practice of Government and director of the Innovations in American Government program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. His lecture is scheduled for 5-7pm April 3.
