The search for a new chancellor for IUPUI will continue next week when the finalists visit campus. School officials say one finalist is an internal candidate and the other is an Indiana University School of Dentistry leader.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Finalists in the internal search for a new chancellor for Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis will meet with campus groups next week. The search committee, chaired by Eugene R. Tempel, founding dean and professor of philanthropic studies and higher education at the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI, has identified two finalists who will meet with faculty, staff, students and community members.

The next chancellor will succeed Charles R. Bantz, who is stepping down from his position effective Aug. 15. Bantz joined IUPUI as chancellor and IU vice president for long-range planning in 2003 and guided the campus through a period of growth and unprecedented student success.

The finalists and their visit dates are:

– John N. Williams, Jr., D.M.D, M.B.A., May 5-6 — Dean, IU School of Dentistry

– Nasser H. Paydar, Ph.D., May 6-7 — Executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer, IUPUI

Following the finalists’ visits on campus, the search committee will make a recommendation to IU President Michael A. McRobbie, who will make the final selection subject to approval by the IU Board of Trustees.
