A year after announcing its intentions to join the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and gain access to an athletic conference, IUPUC now knows for which conference its sports teams will compete. The school in Columbus says it will be a member of the River States Conference beginning next fall, pending full membership to the NAIA.
IUPUC is an associate member of NAIA and was allowed to participate in men’s and women’s cross country, softball and baseball. With a full membership, the university says men’s and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball will be able to compete, starting in fall 2023.
“We are honored to become a member of the River States Conference as we build our athletic program here at IUPUC,” said IUPUC Vice Chancellor and Dean, Reinhold Hill. “The RSC is a perfect fit for our campus both geographically and competitively, and we look forward to building friendships and rivalries with our new conference foes.”
The current roster of River State’s Conference schools includes 13 member schools: Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College, Brescia (Ky.) University, Carlow (Pa.) University, Indiana University East, Indiana University Kokomo, Indiana University Southeast, Midway (Ky.) University, Oakland City (Ind.) University, Ohio Christian University, Point Park (Pa.) University, the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College and WVU Tech.
