The projects come as part of a nearly $90 million Wells Quad and School of Public Health renovation plan approved by the board last June and funded by the state through capital appropriations in the biennial budget.
Entrance accessibility improvements
The School of Public Health’s plans to create a new entrance and fixes to meet accessibility requirements were approved.
A new entrance will be constructed on the east side of the building. Constructed in an existing limestone wall, the entrance will replace two sets of emergency doors with glass openings and a more visible entryway.
The west entryway will have wider doors installed and an interior ramp built inside. The south entrance will replace fire doors with entryway doors and move mechanical and electrical distribution systems nearby.
Music school screen wall
A seven-foot screen wall will be constructed on the east and west roofs of Jacobs’ Music Addition. It will hide air conditioning equipment.
The wall will be consistent with the design of the building and be constructed with metal that has a limestone tone and perforation pattern.
Construction for each project is expected to begin this year.
