IU Simon Cancer Center Names Administrator

Subscribe NowMario Contreraz has been named administrator of the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office. He will provide overall direction for the strategy and vision for the CTO to ensure all National Cancer Institute criteria and guidelines are met, including initiation, monitoring, completion and reporting of clinical studies in cancer research. Additional responsibilities include budget and fiscal management, quality assurance, database maintenance, proper documentation and reporting and compliance with various policies and regulations. Contreraz will also serve as a liaison between the administrative staff and the sponsors, collaborators and regulatory agencies. He had previously served as interim administrator for the CTO during the recruitment process. He initially joined the CTO in May as research nurse administrator. Contreraz previously served as a clinical research manager at the IU School of Medicine’s clinical research center, a clinical research nurse at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology, a nursing associate at Eli Lilly and Co., and an ER nurse at Eskenazi Health. He holds both a master’s of nurse administration and a master’s of business administration from Anderson University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ball State.
