Smith is a member of the IU Bloomington College of Arts and Science Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and the honor recognizes scientists for their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Her research focuses on learning in children from birth to age 3. She was also named the Norman Anderson Lifetime Achievement Award winner from the Society of Experimental Psychologists earlier this year. Smith holds a degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
