An Indiana University spokesman has confirmed to our partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal that the university has agreed to pay former President Michael McRobbie an additional $582,000. The extra pay is for McRobbie making himself available for six months after his June 30 retirement if needed by the school.
Steve Sanders, a professor in the IU Maurer School of Law made the news of the additional pay public this week in online posts, which included links to documents such as a letter from the IU Board of Trustees that characterized the pay as compensation for consulting services. Sanders obtained the documents through a public records request, according to the IBJ.
In one of his posts, Sanders said he was looking to provide more transparency on the selection process for IU’s new president, Pamela Whitten.
