Indiana State University has announced plans to dedicate a statue honoring one of the school's most famous figures. A ceremony is slated for November to unveil a Larry Bird statue that will stand outside the Hulman Center on the Terre Haute campus. The event will take place before ISU hosts Ball State University November 9.

A Larry Bird Scholarship Dinner is set for the previous evening. The university will launch a fund then to help pay for student-athlete scholarships.

More details on the events can be found by clicking here.

Wabash Valley artist Bill Wolfe is crafting the anonymously-funded sculpture. Wolfe is using multiple images from the university's archives to capture Bird's likeness.

The Larry Legend Foundation, a student group that initially stoked the effort, has stated “the statue will be taller than Magic Johnson's statue in East Lansing, Michigan.”
