ISU Board Approves $18M Renovation Request

The Indiana State University Board of Trustees has approved the biennial state budget request for 2019-2021. As part of the request, the university is seeking funding for an $18.4 million renovation of the nearly 70-year-old Dreiser Hall.
ISU says the project will include replacing obsolete mechanical and electrical systems, improving accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and repairing exterior building components. The project is the second phase of renovations to academic classroom facilities, which also includes the Fine Arts and Commerce Building, which is slated to be complete next summer.
Dreiser Hall was built in 1950 and includes space for programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, Student Media, and a 255-seat theater, as well as several distance education classrooms. The university is also requesting a 2.5 percent increase in appropriations for its Degree Link program, Nursing Program, and the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute.
The funding request will now be presented to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and the State Budget Agency.
