The Indiana Symphony Society Inc. is reporting a record $11 million in ticket sales during the 2017-2018 season, up 7.8 percent over the previous year. The organization has also elected new members and officers to its board of directors.
The parent of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra says total operating income for the fiscal year was $26.9 million, which created a general operating loss of $964,000. However, total contributed income for the organization increased 4.1 percent over the previous year.
"The most significant lesson from FY18 is that in recent years, the ISO budget has relied on unrealistically aggressive sales and fundraising goals," said Chief Executive Officer James Johnson. "For the 2019 fiscal year, we have reset the course. First, the ISO is making more conservative revenue forecasts while reducing expenses. Secondly, we are taking advantage of opportunities to invest in projects that will generate more income for the ISO."
Johnson says there will be a "bold new approach" to the Kroger Symphony on the Prairie summer series that aims to bring in more performances and new enhancements for patrons.

- Chad Slaughter – Managing Director, Fifth Third Private Bank
