A Texas-based Islamic food producer is seeking tax abatement from the city of Muncie to continue growing its operations. The Star Press reports Halal Processing Solutions is located at the former Monogram Foods hot dog facility and has already started renovating the interior and equipment. A council committee approved the five-year abatement this week. It is expected to reach the full council for vote next week.

The Star Press reports Halal President Tom Keim wants to produce hot dogs, bologna and beef breakfast strips at the Delaware County plant.

During an abatement hearing, he said 15 people are currently employed by the company in Delaware County, with hopes of an additional 35 by early next year.

Tennessee-based Monogram Food Solutions LLC moved production out of Muncie to a Bristol facility earlier this year.
