IPFW to End Several Degree Programs

IPFW has announced it is suspending or eliminating a number of degree programs. In a letter to students, the university says it will establish procedures to allow those enrolled in the soon-to-be-closing programs to complete their degrees.
The university says it will eliminate its Geology, Philosophy and Women’s Studies programs on January 1. Other individual degree programs, including French and German, as well as majors, including Legal Studies, Public Management and others, are being suspended.
IPFW says each program will have a credit hour and time threshold established to determine which students will be allowed to complete their degree. The time threshold will be announced to students "shortly," according to the letter.
"All the programs that have been identified are ones that over the last five years have averaged less than 5 graduates per year," Carl Drummond, vice chancellor for academic affairs at IPFW, told our partners at 21Alive. "What we’re gonna do is make sure we provide a pathway for the students who are currently enrolled to continue those studies to graduation."
