The school says the collaboration focuses on student civic engagement and leadership skills on the campus and throughout northeast Indiana.
The partnership’s goals include helping students apply critical thinking and creative problem solving to leadership efforts and increasing civic engagement and volunteerism. IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein says it will provide "very exciting opportunities for our students to grow in leadership and civic service."
Indiana National Guard Lieutenant Colonel Todd Norris says the collaboration provides the guard with new ways to tell people about its programs. In a release, he said, "We’re using this partnership with IPFW as a model for university programs around the state."
The collaboration begins with the 2016-2017 academic year. The Guard will partner with IPFW on several programs, including a "Lunch With Leaders" series and a fall student leadership retreat.
