An Indianapolis-based private equity firm has closed on the recapitalization of two Canadian pharmaceutical industry companies. Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Co. Inc. says the partnerships with GMD Distribution Inc. and Opthalmic Direct LP were “highly attractive” to the firm.

Indianapolis, Ind. — Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Company, Inc. (“HKW”) announced that it closed on the recapitalization of GMD Distribution Inc. and Ophthalmic Direct LP (collectively “GMD” or “Company”) on March 24, 2015. GMD, headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, is a leading distributor to the pharmaceutical industry and specializes in supplying specialty ophthalmic pharmaceuticals to clinics across Canada. GMD develops customized programs for a variety of clients that enable the direct distribution of pharmaceuticals and other healthcare products to Canadian pharmacies and clinics.
