News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 1, 2015) – MDwise has announced the launch of MDwise Excel Network in response to the organization's continued Medicaid plan growth.
The MDwise Excel Network delivery system will take over all business functions including management of the network, provider contracting, medical management, claims payments and other administrative functions for the 123,000 MDwise Hoosier Alliance membership and 1,200 providers previously served by Hoosier Alliance. MDwise Excel Network is sponsored by IU Health and the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County.
“We are excited to offer a more direct service to our members and providers through MDwise Excel Network,” said Katherine Wentworth, Interim President and CEO of MDwise. “Providing quality care to our members is of the utmost importance. We will work closely with Hoosier Alliance to assure that our members' coverage and providers' services remain consistent through this transition.”
As MDwise and Hoosier Alliance have grown, evolved and matured over the years, the current arrangement is no longer aligned with either company’s strategic direction or desired business model.
This change will not affect any of the other hospital-based delivery systems that participate with MDwise and serve Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan members. Those providers who do not participate in one of the hospital-based delivery systems may still participate with MDwise under the MDwise Excel Network delivery system.
“This is a time of great opportunity for MDwise, and we look forward to serving our valued members and providers in this expanded capacity,” added Wentworth.
