Subscribe NowThe Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is seeking public comments on proposed natural gas and sewer rate increases by Citizens Energy Group in Westfield. The utility cites rising operating and maintenance costs and the need for capital infrastructure improvements as reasons for the proposed increases.
The proposal from Citizens Gas of Westfield would raise the total average monthly residential bill from $65.93 to $71.37, according to the OUCC. The rate increase would boost the utility’s annual operating revenues by more than 16 percent. Residents can comment on this case through September 21 and the OUCC plans to file testimony with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on September 28.
Citizens Wastewater of Westfield is proposing to increase the minimum monthly sewer charge for 5,000 gallons from $51.10 to $64.09. The utility says its annual sewer utility revenue would increase by more than 25 percent under the proposal. The increase is being requested due to capital improvements at the 156th Street Interceptor and Downtown Lift Station projects.
The OUCC is accepting public comment on the sewer rate case through November 10 and plans to file testimony with the IURC on November 18. You can find more information on how to submit comments by clicking here.
