India-based Infosys (NYSE: INFY) has announced plans for its third U.S. hub. The technology company says it will establish a Design and Innovation hub in Providence, Rhode Island. The facility will be in addition to the two previously-announced hubs in Indianapolis and North Carolina.
The Rhode Island Commerce Corp. says the new facility will create 500 jobs in the state by 2022. Infosys has already committed to creating 2,000 jobs at each of its Technology and Innovation Hubs by 2021.
Infosys is investing $8.7 million for its Indy hub, which will be located inside the OneAmerica Tower in the city’s downtown, and plans to hire 100 by the end of the year and an additional 400 next year. Since the original announcement in May, the state says it has been pitching the company to create an Indiana campus that will serve as the center of its U.S. operations.
The company has also partnered with Purdue University on a five-year agreement which will provide training for the Infosys’ American employees. The partnership will also include joint research projects and a physical presence for Infosys on the West Lafayette campus.
