IndyCar Drivers Become Milk Men

INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are kicking off the 100-day countdown to the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Verizon IndyCar Series drivers Josef Newgarden, Helio Castroneves, Ed Carpenter and others delivered 100 bottles of milk throughout the city Friday.
Newgarden made a delivery stop at the Inside INdiana Business headquarters and said the 100th Indy 500 will be a special race.
"This is the 100th running. The Super Bowl was 50 this year. That’s half the lifespan," said Newgarden. "It’s a really impressive event in its own right. We’re going to have over 300,000 people there. It’s unlike anything else I think you could ever see."
Officials began the festivities Thursday night with a midnight celebration on the yard of bricks at IMS. Hulman Motorsports Senior Vice President of Events says is working to engage all 92 counties with events leading up to the race on May 29.
Newgarden added that while he is excited for the Indy 500, he is still preparing for the five races in which he will compete before the Memorial Day weekend event. The Verizon IndyCar Series kicks off March 13 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
