Indy Tops List For Affordable Rent

A national business publication says Indianapolis is the best city in the country for renters. The analysis from Forbes says the city has "astonishingly" low average monthly rent and high affordability.
Indy’s average rent checks in at $806 per month, which accounts for 17 percent of the median household income. No other city in the 46 markets Forbes considered had lower rent and only Kansas City had a lower affordability figure.
Other numbers the publication mentions as pluses for Indianapolis are the city’s 5.6 percent vacancy rate and a 2.5 percent average rent hike year-over-year.
