A report places Indianapolis among the top markets for high-tech job growth in North America. CBRE Inc. says between 2013 and 2015, tech jobs grew at a nearly 28 percent clip in Indianapolis. The figure puts Indy fifth overall, just ahead of the Silicon Valley.
From 2012 through 2014, CBRE says data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show the market grew by by 25.7 percent. Indianapolis was behind San Francisco, Phoenix, Austin and Charlotte, but ahead of the Silicon Valley, Toronto, New York City, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth.
The commercial real estate services firm said venture capitalists and tech companies are "warming up" to the Midwest and opening or relocating offices to the region. It also says Indy is experiencing continued net positive growth in 2016, compared to a year ago. CBRE highlighted the plans announced by the state in July to pump $1 billion into entrepreneurship over the next decade.
