Construction on the East Washington and Warren branches is expected to begin in mid-March.
The board awarded a $1.7 million contract to Noblesville-based MacDougall Pierce Construction Inc. for the renovation and expansion of the East Washington branch, which will include an additional 2,200 square feet of space. The project will include a 20-unit computer lab, updated restrooms and elevator installation, among others updates. It is expected to be completed in October.
Another contract worth over $880,000 was awarded to Indianapolis-based Mezzetta Inc. for the renovation of the Warren branch. The project will include a relocated entrance, new and separate areas for children and teens, reconfigured restrooms and technology updates. The renovation is expected to be complete in September.
The board says it expects the current renovation of the Southport branch to be complete in July. The projects are all part of the library’s strategic plan to improve library access throughout Marion County.
