In separate notices to the state, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Indy and the Marriott North Hotel on the city’s north side say the furloughs will continue indefinitely.
Kentucky-based Crestview Management LLC, which manages both hotels, says the furloughs at the Marriott North were slated to end on March 13. However, the 73 employees affected by the move will remain furloughed until further notice.
Crestview says 78 employees have been furloughed at the Hyatt Regency and were slated to return in January. However, the furloughs have continued since that time and will also remain in place indefinitely.
“At this time, it is difficult to determine when all the COVID-19 restrictions shall be lifted and/or when occupancy will return to a level where we can reinstate employment of the furloughed employees at this Property,” Crestview said in the notices. “It is our intent to reinstate all furloughed employees once our business operations increase and we are financially able to do so.”
Both hotels say the extensions are due to business interruptions and the delay in the rollout of the vaccines.
