News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Managed Health Services (MHS), an Indiana-based health maintenance organization serving Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), is pleased to announce Kevin M. O'Toole as its new president and CEO. Former CEO Patrick Rooney has been promoted to senior vice president (SVP) of health plans for Centene Corporation, MHS' parent company.

O'Toole has been with Centene Corporation since 2012. He served as vice president of health plan operations in St. Louis, Mo., and most recently served as chief operating officer for Absolute TotalCare.

Prior to his roles with Centene Corporation, O'Toole was vice president of operations with Medco in Nashville, Tenn. O'Toole also held various other leadership roles within the organization, working around the country for Medco and their subsidiaries.

O'Toole received his Bachelor of Science in microbiology, Master of Science in Public Health in health administration, and his Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

“Kevin has a wealth of knowledge and is a skilled healthcare leader with a wide range of experiences in administration,” said former MHS CEO Patrick Rooney. “I know MHS is in extremely capable hands. We look forward to his leadership and taking MHS into the future.”

Rooney has been promoted to the position of SVP of health plans for Centene Corporation and will oversee five states, including Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Wisconsin, in his new role.

“We want to congratulate Patrick on his promotion to senior vice president of health plans,” said Rob Hitchcock, executive vice president of health plans for Centene Corporation. “He has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, and he has been with Centene Corporation for more than 15 of those years. His strong and successful leadership of MHS no doubt reflects the impact he will have in his new role.”
