Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report Black and White Investments LLC and Pinebrook Properties LP will convert parts of the facility into housing units and office space and will work with another group to manage the gym. The companies are doing business under the name Wigwam LLC.
During a meeting Thursday night, the Anderson Community School Corp. Board of Trustees and the city's redevelopment commission approved an agreement to deed the 1960's-era arena to the developers.
Last month, Wigwam Sports and Entertainment LLC, which was in line to take title of the property and had announced plans to revamp the gym for use by the city and for private events, pulled out of the deal claiming a lack of funding.
If no agreement was in place before September 2, demolition contracts drafted by the city would take effect.
