Once the acquisition is complete, Action Phase Games will merge into Oakland-based Indie Boards and Cards. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Indie Boards and Cards says it will continue to operate out of Oakland and will have a regional office in Indianapolis. The company did not specifically state whether any jobs would be affected by the merger, but said the teams will work together on releasing new games mostly under the Indie name.
"Having experienced tremendous growth over the past seven years, Indie Boards and Cards was at a critical point," said Travis Worthington, CEO of Indie Boards and Cards. "I just couldn’t keep up with our existing business and continue to grow the company without bringing on a very talented group of game designers and developers."
Travis Chance, who will now serve as director of product development and marketing at Indie Boards and Cards, says he is excited about the merger as it gives his company the financial resources and market reach it previously never had. Indie says the merger will have no effect on retailers who carry titles from either company.
