Indy Featured as Top Destination to Visit in 2021
Indianapolis is included as a top destination to visit in 2021 by two high profile national travel media outlets. The Circle City is featured for the first time on both Condé Nast Traveler’s list of “21 Best Places to Go in 2021” and Travel + Leisure’s “Best Places to Travel in 2021.”
The media outlets cited Indy’s $300 million Bottleworks District, the expansion of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, and The LUME Indianapolis exhibition at Newfields as reasons to visit.
“It’s hard enough to make one ‘best places in the world’ list in any given year so it’s really incredible for Indy to be named to two of them in 2021 by these highly regarded travel authorities,” said Leonard Hoops, president of Visit Indy. “And what a great time to be on those lists. While it will take years to fully recover from the pandemic, we know there is palpable pent-up demand to travel and explore, and we look forward to a strong and sustained recovery beginning next spring.”
Indy was one of only five domestic destinations named to Condé Nast Traveler’s list of 21, alongside global cities like Tasmania, Australia, Kyoto, Japan, and Oslo, Norway.
On Travel + Leisure’s list, Indy was one of 50 featured destinations, alongside world-class cities such as Las Vegas and New York.
