DMI says the EndZone for Education technology is adapted from a platform used by the United States government for high-risk situations.
The company says the app can help identify threats preemptively and cut off access to potential "unknown and/or high-risk actors." Cathedral High School in Indianapolis is piloting the technology. President Rob Bridges says "providing a safe environment for our students is absolutely paramount to maintaining our tradition of excellence in both academic and extra-curricular activities. Our commitment is to ensure that we control and protect the space we provide to our students – both on campus and off. Nearly everyone at our school has a mobile phone already and it’s natural that we tap into them as part of our safety solution."
EndZone for Education uses a crowd-sourcing model for security, integrating safety alerts that can be submitted by students and teachers and the info can be used by administrators to set virtual parameters. It also helps monitors social media and integrates existing security cameras and can help provides directions during emergency situations.
