Indy Chamber names new chief economic development officer

The Indiana Chamber has tapped Jason Hester to serve as its new chief economic development officer, the organization announced Thursday.
Hester comes to Indianapolis after serving as president of the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. in Bartholomew County.
In his new role, the chamber said Hester will lead the Indy Partnership, the chamber’s regional development arm. In December, the Indy Partnership announced it was expanding to Bartholomew County through an agreement with the Greater Columbus EDC.
During his tenure in Columbus, the region secured more than $7.5 billion in direct capital investment and more than 44,000 new jobs, according to the chamber.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jason to the team at such a pivotal moment for the region,” Indy Chamber CEO Matt Mindrum said in a news release. “His deep expertise, collaborative spirit, and proven leadership will be essential as we work with partners across the Indy region, nation, and globally to generate investment and create opportunity.”
Hester will also focus on driving regional business attraction strategy throughout central Indiana, the chamber said.
He will begin his new role in Indianapolis on June 2.
