Indy Among Most Affordable Cities

Subscribe NowPersonal finance website SmartAsset says Indianapolis is one of the more affordable large cities in the country. The company analyzed 50 of the largest U.S. cities and Indy ranks in the top 10 cities where residents spend the least on housing.
SmartAsset based its ranking across two metrics to determine affordability: median monthly housing costs and median housing costs relative to the median household income.
Across the 50 biggest cities, monthly housing costs average $1,268, or roughly 14% higher than the median national figure of $1,112. The median monthly housing cost in Indy is $926.
The most expensive city, based on the criteria, is Boston.
