In a notice to the state, Five Seasons Sports Club says more than 80 employees will be out of work when it closes on September 30.
In a news release, the club says the addition of the Monon Center and low-cost fitness facilities "had their effect over time." Chief Executive Officer Thomas Deere said, "It has been a wonderful experience we have had knowing and serving the great people of Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Meridian Hills and others in the greater community."
The majority of the 84 jobs affected by the closure are part-time positions, according to the notice. The club says those employees fill roles in "tennis, fitness, pool, child care, maintenance, housekeeping and cafe."
The club says the property on Indy’s north side was rezoned for high-density office use over the past year and the company intends to market the property for redevelopment.
Five Seasons Sports Club opened in Indianapolis in 1996. The club is one six owned by Kentucky-based Corporex Companies LLC, which also has locations in Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.
