Subscribe NowIndiana Utility Regulatory Commission Chair Carol Stephan has announced that she will retire from public service, effective January 1. She has worked for the State of Indiana for a number of years in various capacities. Stephan was appointed by Governor Pence as commissioner on March 3, 2014, and as chair of the commission on May 20, 2014. Prior to her appointment as chair, she served as an assistant general counsel for the Commission, providing legal support to the agency on a variety of issues. Additionally, Stephan served as general counsel for the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor, the state agency that advocates on behalf of ratepayers before the Commission. Before her work in utility law, she served as interim deputy commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Stephan has also worked in the nonprofit sector as director of special projects for Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana.
