Two schools in Indiana are being honored as Green Ribbon Schools from the U.S. Department of Education. The distinction recognizes innovative efforts involving environmental impact and utility cost reduction, health and wellness improvement and effective sustainability education. Burris Laboratory School in Muncie and Bethany Christian Schools in Goshen are on this year’s list.
A total of 63 honorees throughout the country are being honored this year.
Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick says "preparing children for a bright and active future means teaching lessons both inside and outside the classroom. Both Burris Laboratory and Bethany Christian have created an atmosphere that stresses the importance of personal and external sustainability through physical well-being and environmental care and concern. I personally congratulate these schools for being recipients of this award."
