The funding, which is awarded annually, aims to support Title I schools with a "strong commitment to raise low student performance."
The federally-funded grants were enacted under No Child Left Behind, according to the IDOE. The grants are awarded in specific increments to each school over four years.
"School Improvement funding is critical in supporting high-poverty schools in addressing low student achievement," said Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick. "I am grateful to our awarded recipients as we work together to create academic success for Indiana’s students."
The recipients include:
- Eminence Elementary School, Morgan County – $629,450
- Green Valley Elementary School, New Albany – $1,172,495
- Medora Elementary School, Jackson County – $572,500
- S. Ellen Jones Elementary School, New Albany – $1,469,510
