U.S. News & World Report has issued its annual list of “Best U.S. High Schools” and one Hoosier school is included in the top five. The publication ranks schools based on a variety of factors, including state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.

The Signature School in Evansville comes in at No. 3 overall and No. 1 among all charter high schools in the country. It consistently ranks as one of the top high schools in the country by various publications.

U.S. News evaluated data from nearly 18,000 schools to calculate the rankings.

The remainder of the top 10 Indiana schools, with their national rankings, include:

  • Herron High School – Indianapolis (318)
  • West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School (341)
  • Zionsville Community High School (362)
  • Carmel High School (394)
  • Burris Laboratory School – Muncie (419)
  • Speedway Senior High School (544)
  • Munster High School (617)
  • Fishers High School (719)
