An Indianapolis-based audio/visual rental company is branching out to Texas. Markey's Rental & Staging will be the in-house event technology provider for the $300 million JW Marriott Austin, being built by Merrillville-based White Lodging Services Corp. October 22, 2014
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Markey's Rental & Staging is proud to announce its selection as the in-house event technology provider for the JW Marriott Austin, opening February 2015. This expansion will result in multiple new hires for its Indianapolis headquarters in addition to the staff being assembled in Austin for work at the hotel.
“All of us at Markey's Rental & Staging are excited to expand our services into the Austin, Texas market, one of the fastest growing cities in the United States,” stated Mark Miller, President of Markey's. “This growth will allow us to strengthen our infrastructure through new hires to support this expansion, in addition to re-filling the roles vacated by staff moving to Austin.”
Scott Blalock, formerly General Manager of the JW Marriott Indianapolis and now the GM for JW Marriott Austin, explained the selection, saying, “We are thrilled to have Markey’s Rental & Staging as our in-house event technology provider. They have a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and back it up with a proven track record of success with the JW Marriott Indianapolis.”
Trent Turchi has been promoted as the Director of Event Technology for the Markey's operations at the JW Austin, and has begun building the team of event technology professionals that will support the hotel's meetings and events. Trent has been with Markey's since 2001, starting as an in-hotel event technician and then Operations Manager at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. He was promoted to Audiovisual Account Manager for the Indiana Convention Center in 2007 and managed several national accounts. His position with the company the last three years has been as the Director of Operations at the JW Marriott Indianapolis and he was an integral part of the JW Indianapolis opening team.
