Stacy Palmer says the school is taking the lead in training philanthropic professionals. She spoke this month in Indianapolis as part of an Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana Chapter speaker series. The initiative is supported by Greenwood-based Johnson, Grossnickle and Associates to help celebrate the nonprofit consulting firm's 20th anniversary. In a Studio(i) interview, Palmer says the industry is bouncing back from a “tough decade.” Palmer says Indiana has “chartered scholarship” in the nonprofit industry.

Indianapolis, Ind. — The Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana Chapter (AFP-IN) has received underwriting from Johnson, Grossnickle and Associates (JGA) to host three nationally-recognized speakers to discuss various aspects impacting the future of philanthropy.
JGA has created the JGA Signature Speaker Series as part of their 20th anniversary celebration. The firm, founded locally in 1994, approached AFP-IN about their desire to commemorate their anniversary by strengthening the field of philanthropy and providing access to enhanced training to local nonprofit professionals.
“We are thrilled we have the opportunity to bring this caliber of speakers to our members and enhance the professional development offerings we provide to the Indianapolis nonprofit community,” explained Nathan Hand, president of the AFP Indiana Chapter. “JGA has long been a supporter of AFP and we are happy to join with them in commemorating this important anniversary.”
Katherina Rosqueta, founding executive director of the Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania, will be the first speaker in the series on April 17th. Rosqueta will share how nonprofit organizations can better measure their direct impact and communicate that value to current and future supporters.
Stacy Palmer, editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy, will speak in a special afternoon presentation from 3:30 – 5 p.m. followed by a reception on May 20th. Palmer leads the Chronicle’s coverage of philanthropy news, considered the number-one news source in the nonprofit world. She will discuss philanthropy in the media and how coverage is changing over time.
A third speaker will be added to the series in the fall.
